i feed him poems and
he never forgets me
i spoon them into
his mouth and
he eats them
in amazement
he goes away and lives
a hundred years
and i am the ocean
girl scooping sunset
poems
forever

lo único que importa ahora
Caminamos desde Santa Bárbara
hacía las estrellas con pasos torpes y risa
que marea, tomados
de la mano en frente de
dios y todo el mundo.
La noche suave nos envuelve
como agua profundo;
en la neblina flotan
estrellas. El amor no es lo
único que importa, pero es
lo único que importa ahora.
Me disuelvo hasta quedar en la
neblina con las
estrellas.
In Her Core
on the surface
trees grow
mountains still sit and
oceans keep breathing
deep down
in her core
everything is
molten and
unsafe
Boat Poem
I will drop anchor just off
the edge of the world
I can ride out the tides
I can stomach the sun
I prefer the tickle of fish
to the safety of sand
(from Tell Me About The Telaraña)
sunday morning/poor (in spirit)
the good people of moses lake
are driving home from
church and i
am driving home
from walmart with
my groceries
i may not make it
to heaven but
i will surely
make it to friday with
my bag of butter
oatmeal and eggs
días míos
todas mis historias son
verdaderas
los cuentos de hadas no
me las inventé
los relatos de noches
lloviosis, besos, barcos
mañanas arenosas
mochilas, maletas
bailes largos de mucho
sudor, secretos, sorpresas
lagrimas, furias, ferias
son días de mi vida
bien vividos
todos míos
a thousand years
I wait
like a mountain
so still under
stars, you
cannot see me breathing
I think if I sleep, maybe
the night will go faster
when dawn turns
gray the sky I
have not moved
I am still here
a thousand
years will change
my face but
only a little
(from Tell Me About The Telaraña)
